Worst Blogger Ever.

I am officially the worst blogger ever.

It's true.
It's been months since my last post. I don't even have a good excuse. 6 weeks ago I fell off my horse and broke my pelvis. It was certainly my own fault. Digby, my main man was not acting out of character, he was just having fun and I panicked completely unnecessarily. I fell and landed on the cement mounting block. Ouch. Luckily I was wearing my helmet - I never get on a horse without one. A week ago they told me I needed surgery to correct the alignment of the bones. That's five weeks into my healing they tell me they need to basically injure me again to reset the bones. So, here I am with another 6 - 8 weeks of healing time. Great.
Thankfully, I have the most amazing boyfriend who is waiting on me hand and foot and putting up with all my particulars. He's even taken me to a thrift store almost every weekend.

Here are some of my favourite things recently.

This adorable Mikasa pattern. I must have it!!! It's called Blue Bird. I will now hunt it down.

I found this adorable enamel bowl at a Value Village today. Normally I'm not one for enamel bowls like Catherine Holm and other similar things. I just fell in love with the mushrooms on this. One of them even looks like a broccoli floret. So cute!

Saw this stand mixer at an antique mall near my barn a while ago. I should have bought it for the $75.00 but passed. Now it haunts me.

Now, just for fun. A few months ago my Dad took part in a customer appreciation thing at a racetrack. Here's a photo of us off to race around the track in his miata. It was so much fun!

Happy Trails!!

I can't stop.

So, we are in the midst of packing. It's going slowly, but, we have just under 3 weeks until moving day.
Most of my Pyrex is packed or wrapped waiting to be packed.

I've been trying to stay away from thrift stores in fear that I'll find things to buy, which would mean more packing. But, I'm sure as you all know it's not easy to stay away. It doesn't help that I have a goodwill mere minutes from my house. Not only that, but, after months of having terrible luck with finding Pyrex but, over the last few days it's picked up again in a great way!

I found these three in the last few days.
The Butterprint 401 was 4.04 at a GW, I already had it but, I can't pass up Butterprint.
The mug was 0.99¢ at the same store and I found the snowflake blue fridgie today for 2.02. They all came from my local goodwill where I NEVER find anything.

My Boyfriend and I took a little day trip to Niagara Falls the other weekend and stopped at a ton of thrift stores on the way down there. I found all these. Not the cheapest Pyrex ever, but I was happy to find them all. Spring blossom is one of my favourite patterns and I "needed" these two pieces, especially the fridgie!
Not a huge fan of the autumn harvest pattern but, my boyfriend took a shine to it, so, of course I bought it for him! He's never been a big fan of my pyrex obsession so, anytime he takes a liking to something I give in.

This was my best find perhaps of all time. I've never found snowflakes in the wild. So, I was out trying to use my 30% off card at Value Village. There's a spot near my house where there is a Value Village, Talize, Goodwill and Salvation Army all on different corners of the intersection. It's one of my favourite thrifting locations. So, I went into the VV and Talize and found nothing. They had 9 pieces of Pyrex in the Talize, all of which were very DWD. I wasn't planning on going to Goodwill, but, I didn't change lanes fast enough so, I was stuck going right and figured I'd stop in. It was half price day, so, I didn't high hopes. I went in and of course went straight to the housewares. I wandered along, and TADA! it was just sitting there on the shelf. There was a woman standing almost right in front of it, I almost pushed her out of the way to get to it. She gave me a funny look because I moved so fast. HAHA. Oh well, I still came out on top.
Oh, and I forgot to tell you what I paid! Get ready... 2.02! waahoo!

It should be a good rest of the week, I've got a trade coming in the mail from Alberta. A charcoal snowflake spacesaver and a square flowers fridgie with lid! So excited! Cross your fingers that they make it one piece!

Well, that's all for now, haven't found much else.
Hopefully things continue to run smoothly with the new house, We are pretty lucky because there is absolutely nothing that we have to do to it, except maybe paint. I want to paint a room (probably the kitchen) Pyrex turquoise. My boy isn't too thrilled about that choice. He's such an Eeyore.

Happy Trails!

Finding my groove.

I've been trying to find my groove with this whole blogging thing.
It's proved harder than I thought.

Thrifting has been a little slow lately. I've had to take a few months off, which didn't help things. My boyfriend and I were looking to buy a house so, I was busy with all that. We spent many weekends and evenings looking at houses. Some nice, some that needed a fairy godmother. All in all, we eventually won a bidding war and we move into our new house on June 1st!
The other day I went driving around the neighbourhood and discovered a Goodwill a mere 4 minute drive from the house! So, I popped in, with low expectations but, I scored!!
The Butterprint is a double and is promised to my cousins. The Butterfly Gold is a double so it's for trade.

$4.54
$2.02
$3.53 and it completes my set!
I went by an estate sale and found a McCoy pot, and some great plates.
Then, I swung by a Goodwill and happened across these gems. I paid a bit too much for the teapot, $18 but, I figure it's less than I would have paid at an antique store and it's so darn cute! Also grabbed this Fireking pie plate with the original sticker!

Now, I have a few questions...
My new house has a gas stove, what are your recommendations for using Pyrex Flameware on a gas stove? Is it safe for the Pyrex?

And, I found this today at a Value Village for 2.99.
I've seen it before at Antique stores anywhere from $12 to $30
It has no markings, but, can anyone tell me anything about it?

Thanks for stopping by!
Happy thrifting!

Recently...

First, to let you know a little about me;
I love thrifting. It's addictive and fun.
There's nothing like walking into a thrift store and finding something great.
No one I know seems to understand this, or at least not yet.
So, I'm here to share it with the internet to see if anyone out there can enjoy it with me.
and if not, well, at least I get to practice my writing skills...

Over the last few months I've really gotten into thrifting and have collected quite a lot of stuff, so, we are going to have to play catch up a little bit.

These two weren't thrifted by me, I bought them from a vintage store in Kitchener, Ontario.
They're awesome! White Tiger Vintage Boutique!

This beauty was found at a goodwill. I love the colour and the polka dots and the way it hangs with the pleats.

I love this "tuxedo" dress. It's hard to tell on the Judy but it's very flattering with the black stripe in the middle. It was only $7 but, then I had to have it dry cleaned and spent some time ripping out the shoulder pads.

This gorgeous coat was a mere $13.99. It's wool and made in Canada by a company called "Little Nugget" I don't know a whole lot about them. The second photo is of the detail on the left breast. The accents on it are amazing. I bought it at a Value Village and went back there the following week and found a second coat by the same company, it wasn't as nice though, just red with black trim and twice the price.

This beautiful dress reminds me of a flight attendants uniform.

I got these two on the same trip to Goodwill. They are both handmade and fit perfectly. The one on the left reminds me of a picnic blanket. They are great!

That's all for now,
Happy thrifting!

How it all began...

I'm new at this, so bare with me.

I don't know what's going to come of this blog. Hopefully lots of pyrex. and other cool stuff too.
I fell in love with Pyrex at the beginning of this summer.
It all started with this...

A 3 bowl set of the Butterfly Gold 1 pattern in pristine condition. I found it at a yard sale, and it was only $5!!!
Then, just the next day I was in the Salvation Army in Lindsay, which just happens to be one of my favourite thrifting locations and found this fantastic Butterfly Gold 2 pattern casserole dish with a lid! for only $8!! I don't know if this is the original lid, but it does have a Pyrex marking on it, and it fits so... good enough for me!

After only a month and a half, this is what my collection looked like...

The Butterfly Gold butter dish was from my mother, she didn't want it. (WHAT?!)
The Gooseberry Pink was $15(flinch) at an antique market, it was a bit pricey for me, but, it's a fantastic pattern and in great shape! the Blue Fridgie was $3 with a lid! at my favourite Salvation Army.
and
the Old Town mug was 50 cents, oh, and there's 5 more of them!!
phew... and there's so many more to see.
until next time. (probably tomorrow)
